Schröder 3173, 6. - Durchg. gebräunt, Mäusefraß in der unt. weißen Ecke. - Hermann Rentzel (1764-1827) war seit 1795 Prediger an der St. Jacobi-Kirche zu Hamburg u. "einer der eifrigsten Gegner des neu erwachten evangelischen Lebens in Hamburg".- Der Hamburger Jurist, Senator (und spätere Bürgermeister) Johann Heinrich Bartels (1761-1850) vertrat die Ansicht, daß die Protokolle über Eheschließungen, Geburten, Todesfälle etc. nicht den Kirchenbüchern (allein) zu überlassen seien, sondern in einer staatlichen Behörde vereinigt werden müßten, wie es bereits unter französischer Besatzung in Hamburg eingeführt worden war. Besonders von kirchlicher Seite regte sich starker Widerstand dagegen. - Vgl. Schröder 172,5.
