Reprint des spannenden Abenteuerromans, der in den Jahren 1851/52 spielt und, wie die anderen historischen Romane Goedsches aus preußischer Sicht verfaßt wurde. In der ersten Ausgabe wurde der Roman als Erste Abteilung von "Puebla oder Die Franzosen in Mexiko" publiziert. In späteren Auflagen fehlt dieser Hinweis. Der ehemalige Postsekretär und Journalist Hermann Gödsche (1816-1878), erzkonservativ und dem preußischen Hof verbundener Antisemit, hat u.a. Karl May beeinflußt. Seine Romane erschienen nach der Jahrhundertwende nur noch in bearbeiteten Ausgaben. - Neuwertig.

Hermann Ottomar Friedrich Goedsche, 1815-1878) verfaßte mit Abenteuern angereicherte Tendenzromane, die das gesamte politische Geschehen seiner Zeit zum Inhalt haben.
