Hardcover. 1st Edition. Here is a rare volume of meditations on the crucifixion of Christ and the meaning of His life by One of the Greatest Ministers of Nineteenth Century America, Reverend Lyman Abbott. "The Crucifers" was Abbott's Last Work, and published by The Womans Press of the YWCA in 1923, with a Foreword by William Sloane Coffin Lyman Abbott was one of the most influential Protestant preachers in the nineteenth century. He was an accomplished public speaker and his sermons were esteemed. Abbott wrote numerous books on theology. William Sloane Coffin wrote the foreword to the book, which actually reads as a sort of eulogy for Lyman Abbot, who had recently died.
