Hard Back. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. 1968 Reprint. 119 Pages. A Rio Grande Classic first published in 1893. The endpapers at the front and back is a replica of an old railroad map circa 1890. This is a basic source book of American history and is one aspect of American history that proved truth is stranger than fiction. Historically flagellation began in Egypt and is a penance condensed. Yet as all flagellation to-day is voluntary, and as Christ never struck himself a blow nor ever laid any penance upon himself it is the opposite to any true imitation of Jesus. It is a strange practice indeed. One participant was observed striking himself a blow for the cow he stole and another for the cow he intends to steal.
