In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. With an engraved portrait frontispiece. A travelogue by the Rev. Fred Bell of his time in New York during the late nineteenth century. With sections regarding the different social groups and characters of the city. Many of the writings first appeared in periodicals such as the 'Midland Sunbeam' and the 'New York Family Story Paper. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some shelf wear to the edges and bumping to the spine. Spine is darkened, as well as the board edges. Some marks to the rear board. Staining to the paste-downs and free endpapers. Internally, binding slightly strained but still firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with a few occasional marks and some age-toning to the edges. Light spotting to the frontispiece, and foxing to the tissue guard. Previous owner's ink signature to the title page. Very Good. Not Stated (illustrator). book.…
