Here is "The Writer's Book : Practical Advice by Experts in Every Field of Writing" . Published by Barnes & Noble, the book was Presented by the Author's Guild and Edited by Helen Hull. This is 1969 10th Printing. From the cover blurb: "This book is a comprehensive and imaginative collection of essays on every phase of the writer's art and craft: forty noted authors discuss the making and marketing of the novel, short story, poem, magazine article, the TV and Film Play. Here is practical professional advice on problems of characterization, style, conflict, and plot for everyone who wants to write. This book was issued well before the internet, and exhibits nothing remotely akin to the modes necessary for writing today. Thus it should prove fascinating for anyone interested in such near-past thinking. We've provided two scans of the Table of Contents, which is fairly lengthy, so view it carefully. This book is a scrupulously researched study of early Hollywood filmmaking, collected from industry sources and ethics documents published between 1922 and 1934. It analyzes guidelines intended to prevent films from degrading audiences or undermining morality. Blending historical and literary analysis, the author examines the constraints placed on film narratives, costuming, and themes. The author argues that the Production Code shaped the aesthetics and narrative structure of early Hollywood cinema, leading to the development of alternative genres such as horror and film noir to address adult concerns without violating the code. This book is an insightful investigation into a crucial period in film history and a valuable resource for scholars and film enthusiasts. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Evanston, IL: Clark Publishing Company, 1948. The Fall, 1948 issue of Fate Magazine (Volume 1, Number 3) in Raymond A. Palmer's now-legendary paranormal-reporting non-fiction enterprise, which began with, in its first issue, Kenneth Arnold's cover account of flying crescents which "skipped like saucers across a pond", an event which, for whatever reason, kicked off the modern era of UFO events. After that, Fate introduced countless events which remain, to this day, fodder for paranormal documentaries and investigation. This Fall 1948 issue - the third issue ever - bears one of the handful of truly iconic Fate covers, that being "The Red River Witch" (see scan). 12mo, illustrated staple-bound wraps, 128 pp. A Near Fine copy - and this one is as near fine as near fine gets, with just touch micro-edgewear and an almost indiscernible degree of color fade as you look toward the spine. See scans. Standard toning to the interior newsprint-grade pages, but these are supple, clean and and unchipped. Highest Grade, particularly for a periodical which often shows substantial wear from use. This issue features articles on the memorable Red River Witch, Charles Fort, a Kenneth Arnold reprise on phantom lights in Nevada, The Valley of Never-Come-Back, America's White Sunworshippers (A Thor Heyerdahl piece), The Flying Jigsaw Puzzle, America's Most Famous Ghost Story, The Temple Girls of India, The Black Art, Two Girls, One Body, The Devil, ESP events and of course much, much else, including the standard Departments, always engrossing in themselves. Interior art and photography is largely uncredited. A piece of paranormal history, and an example of a unique branch of Americana, in very highly collectible condition. Please see scans. l50n.

Vintage borderless black-and-white double weight press photograph from the set of the 1967 film comedy. With the stamp of photographer Pierluigi Praturlon on the verso. Born in Rome, Praturlon (better known simply as Pierluigi) embarked upon a career in photography in 1947. The young paparazzo got his first big story by snapping candid shots of Greta Garbo, who was passing through Rome incognito. Armed with his newfound celebrity, he became an habitue on Cinecitta film sets, and many movie icons, including Frank Sinatra and Sofia Loren, made him their regular photographer. Pierluigi's name is often associated with Federico Fellini's "La Dolce Vita," as he covered that shoot extensively. Inspired by his favorite play, Ben Jonson's "Volpone," millionaire Cecil Fox (Harrison) devises an intricate plan to trick three former mistresses into believing he is dying. Based on Frederick Knott's play "Mr. Fox of Venice" and Thomas Sterling's novel "The Evil of the Day." Set in Venice and shot on location both there and in Rome. 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
