Trade Paperback. Condition: Near Fine. Ink name on half-title page. 2009 Trade Paperback. xxii, 249 pp. Edited by Jonathan Cohen; Foreword by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Pluriverse: New and Selected Poems charts the life-work of the celebrated poet Ernesto Cardenal??one of the world?s major poets? (Choice) and ?the preeminent poet of Central America today? (Library Journal). Follow Cardenal?s poetic development across six decades, from the early exteriorismo poems and romantic epigrams of the early 1950s, to the increasingly spiritual and political verse he wrote as priest and activist (including his classic revolutionary documentary poem ?Zero Hour?) to the shorter victory and ecology poems, and elegies to fallen Sandinistas, and on to the cosmic-mystical-scientific dimensions of his later work. ?Here they are?? editor Jonathan Cohen writes in his Introduction, ?to gladden your heart and enrich your soul.?.

Soft cover. Condition: Good. 1st Edition. 72pp. Significant mimeograph, one of the first, in representing the emerging literary underground. Extremely scarce. This copy in good only condition, though the binding is sound and the interior clean. The front cover has a tear about 1" vertical, which continues up as a crease for about another 2" Corner of the front cover has a 3" diagonal bend, with some other much lighter creasing below it. Rear cover has uneven toning around the edges, and there is some light rubbing and scuffing at other parts. Now covered in mylar, it looks fairly sharp despite the above mentioned issues. Interior, as mentioned, is clean. Small dampstain which oddly only effects the 3 pages that have the Bladen illustrations, not actually touching the image, just to the upper corner in the margins. Upper corner lightly bumped for the last 30 or so pages. Slightly rusty staples but seem well intact. Staples have left a dark imprint on the interior of both from and rear cover. With the editors response to the negative press at the time which tried to disparage the literary merits of the Bay Area underground. Contributions by Robert Duncan predate his first book, and an excerpt from Kenneth Patchen's *Sleepers Awake*. Other contributors include Kenneth Rexroth, Richard Eberhardt, Paul Goodman, William Everson, E.E. Cummings, Philip Lamantia, William Carlos Williams, Allison, Boodson, Jams Laughlin IV, George Woodcock, Ammon A. Hennacy, Sanders Russell, Robert Stock, Christopher Rambo, Thomas Parkinson, and Richard Moore.
