Original wraps rebound in contemporary dark green leather and marbled papered boards; First Edition (into French from German) of 1881 and 1882; Volume 1 is signed by the translator on the wraps front panel (preserved in rebind) and inscribed to "Halphen," presumably Georges Henri Halphen, French mathematician known for his work in enumerative geometry; both volumes in excellent condition with light rubbed wear to boards, a little chipping to paper at board edges and to leather at spine tips and spine extremities, previous oner's name on first white page, no other markings, a clean tight very nice set of scarce mathematical classic and a signed interesting association copy; 2 tall 8vos: (xii) 256 + 314pp. Signed by Translator. …
