A presentation copy, inscribed to the Jessups: "To Lois and Phil, in grateful remembrance of their kind and valuable support at various stages of my studies at Columbia University, Marta Rezler," on the half-title page. Lois Walcott Kellogg Jessup worked tirelessly for the American Friends Service Committee, the U.S. Children's Bureau (preparing reports on children in Europe during Second World War, and the United Nations, advocating for women's rights around the world. She married Philip C. Jessup, a judge on the International Court of Justice and veteran U. S. diplomat, credited with playing a major role in ending the Soviet blockade of West Berlin. Rezler completed her doctorate at Columbia, where Jessup taught international law and diplomacy. A moving presentation with a distinguished provenance. Inscribed by Author(s).
