Franklin H. Chase bookplate on front pastedown is very clean and intact. Inscription in gray ink on front free endpaper: "Dr. John L. Swift, with Compliments of C. W. (?) Hutchinson, Ithica, NY, 1871." Pages are clean; binding is tight. Frederick S. Cozzens (1818-1869) was an American humorist who sometime wrote under the pen name, Richard Haywarde.
