Leather. Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. Engravings and woodcuts; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 64 pages; 1839 Charles Tilt, London. 1st edition ofor this year of the Comic Almanac which was pubblished annually from 1835 - 1853. Handsomely bound in full limp polished red calf with rules in gilt and blind to boards and vertical titles and horizontal rules in gilt to spine. Endpapers marbled; armorial bookplate of T. Y. Coolidge Jr mounted to front pastedown. Thackeray contributed ''Stubbs's Calendar; or, The Fatal Boots'' to this issue which is illustrated with 12 full page engravings for the months of the year by Cruikshank along with a good many in-text woodcuts. Bound without original covers and ads; else NF.
