No Binding. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1 page letter, written on both sides, with diagrams. (10" x 8 1/4") Written in Robert Braune's hand and signed by him from Gothenburg, to Swedish chess editor Joel Fridlizius. Robert Braune is best known for Alain White's editorship of Robert Braune: Apotre de la Symetrie originally published in 1914 and reprinted in a limited edition of 250 copies in 1988. Braune, a chemist by profession, had studied in Graz where he also came into contact with chess. In 1866, he became secretary of the Chess Society in Graz. Braune has universal education, his knowledge of languages () is especially astonishing. In the 'Österreichischen Lesehalle' he published translations of Italian, Polish and Hungarian poems. There, he also published own songs and sonnets. In 1864, the Deutsche Schachzeitung published some of his compositions, mostly 4- and 5-move problems. In the following years, he gained world-wide recognition as he became a specialist in compositions. In 1913, the French Strategie published a collection of his compositions. Alain C. White, the American chess patron, published a collection of Braune's compositions in early 1914. Condition: Folds for mailing, some edge wear else very good. Early original Braune material is becoming very difficult to obtain. C: File. Signed by Author(s).
