Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition. 4to illus. 1st Lmt. Ed. One of 500 Unnumbered Copies.-Bob Cave has been working on a definitive bibliography of Haig-Brown [H-B] for over 7 years. This superlative book starts with Bibliographic References, a Foreword "Remembering Haig-Brown" by Van Egan, a coherant description of the terminology used in the descriptions, followed by sections on Books and Pamphlets by H-B (main part of the book, comprising 282 of of the 332 pages); Contributions to Books by H-B; Books with Excerpts of H-B's Writings; Book Reviews by H-B; Books about H-B; Articles in Periodicals by H-B; Articles in Periodicals about H-B; Published Letters Written by H-B; Broadcast on the CBC by H-B; and the Haig-Brown Collection at University of British Columbia. It also contains Appendices; a very useful Chronology of Published Books by H-B, with printing dates for all the different editions, and number of copies sold; and a Title Index. Each entry in the Book and Pamphlet section recieves a full bibliographic description by Title and Edition; Printed Title; Copyright; Collation; Contents; Typography and Paper; Binding; Dust Jacket; Copies Examined, and sometimes Notes. I found the Notes to be among the most interesting parts of the entire work. Since I am a long-term admirer of Haig-Brown, and a second-hand book dealer since 1977, I was fascinated with the details provided about the publishing history and other facets of the various editions. The book is further enhanced by unpublished photographs of Haig-Brown, reproductions of color plates from THE SALMON portfolio, and a color frontis of part of Bob Cave's own extensive Haig-Brown collection. Cat. 58-121. New in New DJ. Signed by Author(s).
