A letter seeking a recommendation for his son who is seeking a position with the Indian Civil Service. Robert Buchanan 1802-1875 was a Scottish minister and historian who served as Moderator of the General Assembly to the Free Church of Scotland in 1860/61. He was one of the leading figures in the Disruption of 1843. Levi Leone, 1821-1888. English jurist and statistician. His chief work, History of British Commerce and of the Economic Progress of the British Nation, 1763-1870, is considered to be a partisan account of British economic development.
