Records of the Feet of Fines which have long been the standard sourc…es used by English local historians, for Essex. A foot of fine is the record of an agreement that resolved a dispute, real or pretend, commonly about the ownership of land. Collected from six and a half centuries of Final Concords regarding the transfer or settlement of real property in England. With reference to the reigns of Edward III, Richard II, Henry IV, and Henry V. With volume nine being a general index of the work. Compiled and edited by Robert Copp Fowler, a British historian of the English medieval period and Honorary Editor of the Transactions of the Essex Archaeology Society. In the original paper wraps. Externally, smart with light wear and sunning to the extremities. The odd small mark to the wraps. A small closed tear to the spine of Part XXV with a contemporary ink inscription to the front of the wrap. Contemporary ink inscription to the rear board of Part XXII. Light loss to the spine of Part XXVII with the front board detached but present. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd small handling mark. Very Good.
