First Edition
Hard Cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. Comprehensive account of the dried fruit industry, mostly prunes & apricots, in California. As the Foreword explains, the book was conceived as a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Sunsweet growers and grew beyond their expectations due to the enthusiasm of the author, himself long involved in journalism often about the fruit business. Founded as the California Prune and Apricot Growers Association in 1917, today Sunsweet controls two-thirds of the world's prune production. The book covers the origins of the business, its beginnings in California, and development, both technological and financial, through 1965 or so. The book itself seems to have been a slow mover, as a label on the free endsheet notes it being given as a gift by the Cooperative League of the USA to Edward Slettom some 17 years after its publication. Slettom was head of the Minnesota Association of Cooperatives for several decades. We have a similar copy given to Walden Swanson, if you prefer, also involved in the Co-op movement. Hardcover, as pictured; no jacket, likely as issued. Light wear, corner bumped. Text clean, no names or marks besides the gift label; [8], 139, [4] pages; b/w photos, glossary, bibliography. Size: Quarto.

Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. What you are about to embark upon is a short memoir of paranormal events. Written in order to document the oddities I have experienced over the years. While this memoir was written primarily for my family, relatives and our forthcoming lineage, anyone with an interest in the unexplained would find this piece valuable. Valuable in a sense that one does not have feel as an outsider or as being irrational when acknowledging that which exists outside or in-between our worlds set rules for normalcy; or at least what the majority would claim to be a perceived "normal". This memoir holds no assumed truths nor attempted answers for what I have witnessed. If anything, you will most likely be left with more questions then you have at this moment. As with the discovery of personal truths within your own reality, derived through your own distinct lenses, you will unveil just how much you do not know. Again, this is my way of documenting the oddities of my perceived reality, my truths are simply that, my truths, unshakable from my core as the experiences were perceived at the same level of reality as the unequivocal air I breath.
