Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Joseph of Arimathaea was the earthly uncle of Mary, the mother of Jesus. His whole family was blessed by God, preparing their lives to intertwine, first with the birth of Mary, and then with Gabriel's visit to her. The first two sections of the book tell how God blessed Joseph by getting him into the valuable tin trade. He first sold tin to King Herod and then to Caesar Augustus. Tin was necessary in the making of bronze, which was the armament of the Roman Empire. This places Joseph at the center of the Roman war machine. At the peak of his power, Joseph retires to live in Jerusalem, where he is made a member of the Jewish Sanhedrin. He is led by God to build his home next to the place called Golgotha. It is during this time that Mary is visited by Gabriel. Joseph and his family were not permitted to interfere with God's plan for Jesus, but could only offer support for his early protection. When Mary was three months into her pregnancy, they took her to Elizabeth, her relative, to escape the danger of stoning. This placed Joseph and his family at the home of Zachariah when the angel told them the baby boy's name was John. At this the Holy Spirit swept in and they heard the prophecy describing the ministry of John as it intertwined with Jesus' life. Jesus is born and two years later, the wise men visit Bethlehem. The reader can follow Joseph as he watches Jesus being baptized in the Jordan. He sees the dove come and land on Jesus, transforming Him from the son of man into the Messiah. Joseph watches as Lazarus comes out of the tomb and sits with him during the feast when Jesus declares He is to die and rise again. You can be with Joseph as he watches the trial knowing he can do nothing to stop God's plan from proceeding to its end. He follows the crowd and as he watches them brutalize Jesus, he fully understands what John meant when he described Him as the lamb of God sent to take away the sins of the world. He sees his part in God's plan. He had been prepared from his youth and blessed for this hour. He was to save the body of Jesus from being destroyed in the common grave. If he had not been faithful, Christianity would have been drastically impacted. God has a plan for all our lives. He has one for you. Are you following it? This item is printed on demand.
