Na een vierjarig onderzoek van alle Tinne-documenten, waaronder nog onbekende brieven, foto's en ander archiefmateriaal, ligt er nu een volledig verslag van deze expeditie in Soedan waarvan de drama's nog lang zouden na-echoën. Haar rijkdom, wilskracht en doorzettingsvermogen zogen Alexine Tinne mee in een overweldigend 'avontuur' dat uiteindelijk haar dood zou betekenen. Vele, nog onbekende etnografische voorwerpen van Alexine Tinne zijn na haar dood geschonken aan een museum in Liverpool. - Dr.Joost Willink, werkzaam als zelfstandig historicus, is Associate Fellow Researcher, Social Movements & Political Culture Group, African Studies Centre te Leiden.
