OU Der Autor, ein "bekennender Transatlantiker", versucht ein Bild dieser Familie, insbesondere des zweiten aus diesem Clan stammenden US-Präsidenten, zu zeichnen, das nicht die üblichen Klischees von einer Marionette der Energiekonzerne, einem missratenen Sprössling einer Dynastie, einem neok…onservativen Falken oder (wiedererweckten) religiösen Eiferers bedient - obwohl in all diesen Einschätzungen immer auch ein Teil Wahrheit steckt. Bezüglich des politischen Agierens der Super-, ja Hypermacht USA fallen die Urteile des Autors allerdings ausgesprochen vorsichtig aus - der Irak-Krieg an sich wird zum Beispiel nicht kritisiert, eher belächelt Rimscha die deutsche Politiker, die sich nun zum pazifistischen Tugendwächter aufspiele. Insgesamt ist das Buch ein Zwitter, denn obschon der Anspruch ist, Zusammenhänge aufzudecken, schwankt der Autor recht unentschlossen zwischen mal mehr anekdotisch-biographischen, mal mehr politisch-analytischen Passagen. Dem Lob der Süddeutschen Zeitung ("Rimscha versteht es, die Hintergründe politischer Entscheidungen mit den Familiengeschichten zu verbinden") können wir uns so jedenfalls nicht anschliessen.
