Presumed to be a first edition. The front panel of the boards has a four inch long stain around the bottom right corner and some discolouration around the edges. The page edges are browned. Trace of a price in pencil to the front free endpaper and the pages are slightly browned but are otherwise unmarked. Jacket has one inch closed tears on either side at the top corners the front panel with another smaller closed tear at the centre of the top edge. Chipping and tearing to the corners and a few light marks to the rear panel. Coloured frontispiece and four black and white illustrations by Vernon. First printing.

Binding good, nothing loose.
