Black leather bound boards with gilt stamping and pictorial gilt-stamped circular red leather panel; x, [297]pp. Includes thirteen plates of interesting bindings and descriptive illustrations throughout, housed in custom clamshell box in red and black cloth with pasted paper label to spine and red felt interior. Boards in Fine condition, interior clean. Mild shelfwear and scuffing to clamshell but Very Good otherwise. Binder's stamp to rear board interior identifies both Patricia Tweedy and Don Etherington as the binders, dated 1983, a year after the book published. Likely this was a presentation copy to someone in their inner circle, or potentially a copy for one of them to keep, but regardless is a handsome and expertly bound example, highlighting Etherington's knowledge and bulk of work in the trade.…
