Curated and with text by Richard S. Field in collaboration with Wesleyan Students including Jeffrey Deitch in one of his earliest curatorial efforts, who along with fellow students Rosemary Rodgers, Puffin D'Oench, and John Spike wrote additional text. Artists include Albrecht Dürer, Cristofano Robetta, Andrea Mantegna, Marcantonio Raimondi, Rembrandt van Rijn, Francisco de Goya, Edouard Manet, Jean François Millet, Félix Buhot, Théodore Géricault, Anders Zorn, Rudolphe Bresdin, Eduardo Paolozzi, and Andy Warhol ("Silver and Gold Marilyn" from the Portfolio "Ten Marilyns" was on display). Text only, does not include any illustrations. Good. Moderate rubbing of covers and rubbing of cover edges. On recto the word "prints" has been colored in with yellow ink and the two astericks have been colored in with red ink. The year is written in black ink on title page, contents otherwise clean and unmarked.

Condition: molto buono. Bulino originale mm. 301 x 280 (piccoli margini bianchi di 2 mm oltre la battuta del rame).  Uno dei maggiori capolavori dell'incisione fiorentina di fine Quattrocento. Le tirature strettamente coeve di questo bulino sono estremamente rare e preziose.Cristofano Robetta (1462-1535) fu orafo e incisore fiorentino.  Le sue incisioni trattano i soggetti più svariati, da quelli di carattere religioso fino alle allegorie dell'amore ed ai temi di natura erotica. Per questa composizione si ispirò all'opera omonima del 1496 del pittore Filippino Lippi, conservata agli Uffizi di Firenze, ma con alcune variazioni: la scena rappresentata appare speculare rispetto al dipinto e alcuni personaggi secondari, così come il paesaggio sullo sfondo, furono cambiati. "The introduction of three angels above is a new theme, suggested perhaps by Domenico Ghirlandaio's Adoration of the Magi of 1488 or, even more probably by Schongauer's nativity. Robetta's landscape shows details in the manner of Durer, but its general scheme may have been suggested by Perugino (e.g. in the Adoration of the Magi at Verona, Perugino, Klassiker der Kunst 1914, p. 219)".  Esemplare nitidamente impresso su carta vergellata del XVIII secolo.  La lastra originale fu venduta nel 1888 da Vallardi al British Museum.  Cfr.
