Manuscript / Paper Collectible
Condition: Good. Signature by Robin Byrd, using her well-known turn of phrase: "To Tim, "Baby, Bang My Box", Love Always, Robin Byrd" [photo 1]. Signed at opening reception for a new gallery in NYC's Soho, 1991, where Miss Bird taped a segment for her NYC Public Access Cable show. Included is a postcard invite to the exhibition [photo 4]. PROVENANCE: During the event (which I catered) I said I'd like her autograph but had nothing to sign - she grabbed the first piece of paper she saw, an entry form for a juried exhibition [photo 2 and 3]. So here's Robin Byrd's signature on the back of a solicitation for "Fine art of the male form". CONDITION: Legal-size copier paper, folded and pinned up in my studio for quite a few years. The part with her signature is tanned, but not much more than any 35-year-old copier paper would be. MORE INFO: If you want to read more about Robin Byrd, check out The Hollywood Reporters' story on the new HBO documentary - it paints a vivid (and rather sweet) picture of the woman described by The New York Times as "a kitsch lady liberty for the city that never sleeps".
