Treti a posledni dil trilogie o dejinnych udalostech v Sudetech se zameruje na vyvrcholeni druhe svetove valky ve stredni Evrope, kde valka skoncila az v roce 1948. Po kvetnu 1945, kdy se zastavily klasicke armadni operace, nasledovala invaze Revolucnich gard do pohranici, vycistovaci akce proti nacistickym funkcionarum a konfiskace nemeckeho majetku, coz vedlo k jeho ztratam. Dve vlny vystehovani Nemcu z Ceskoslovenska do rozbombardovaneho Nemecka probihaly v roce 1945 a 1946. V teto dobe se take odehravala vnitrostatni valka mezi politickymi stranami a vytesnovani zidu z jejich majetkovych naroku. Kniha zachycuje udalosti let 1946-1948 v usteckem okrese, pricemz konci unorovym prevratem v roce 1948, kdy komuniste odstranili zapadni sympatizanty a obsadili ceskoslovenskou hranici. Prestoze sovetska armada v Ceskoslovensku v roce 1948 aktivne nepusobila, mela zde sve podporovatele. V knize jsou zverejneny historicke informace z teto doby poprve, vcetne jmenneho seznamu clenu Osadni milice a informaci o udajne utajenem nacistickem depozitu. Veskere dostupne informace jsou doplneny hodnocenim jejich pravdepodobne hodnovernosti.

Poprve v ceske historii je napriklad zverejnen celkovy obraz vydirani mesta Usti predlickou romskou rodinou Cervenakovych, ktera mela byt udajne mestskou policii nasilim vystehovana na Slovensko. Ale dojde i na sekyry: povrazdeni cinske rodiny Cinanem v Decine, zatnuti sekery do hlavy otcima na Chomutovsku, znasilneni starenek a zavrazdeni jedne z nich v lese, doslova uslapani pritelkyne k smrti v panelovem dome v Usti. To jsou take Severozapadni jatka. A rovnez unos kamaradky na Sluknovsku koncici jeji smrti, vareni zavrazdeneho muze, ktere bylo vice mene verejnym tajemstvim mezi kamarady z kokainove paseracke komunity. Vynechat nelze ani smrt stareho arcidekana na fare v Trebenicich, stejne jako unos divky amaterskym pornofotografem z Pnovicek na Teplicku - jako jeden z mala se stastnym koncem. Nahlednete i pod poklicku ghet v Janove, Chanove a v dalsich lokalitach. Nakonec uvidite, jak vypada cast trupu zeny vytazena z mrazaku, coz byla hruzna prace z dilny usteckeho reznika Miroslava Ritticha, ktery zabil druzku cinkou a telo rozporcoval. To jsou jen nektere z mnohdy tezko pochopitelnych pribehu, ktere naleznete v knize o lidske bolesti a hruze.

Nedejme se zmylit nazvem - kniha neni lacinym popisem idealizovaneho sveta dinosauru (dinosauri zde hraji pouze ilustracni roli), ale ustrednim tematem je evolucni mysleni a jeho vyznam v moderni spolecnosti. Gouldova kniha je tedy urcena nejen biologum, ale i vsem, kteri maji pozitek z cetby vtipne napsanych textu.
