Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book explores the nature of wit, the humor derived from the unexpected. Through an analysis of witty remarks ranging from jokes to wordplay and satire, the author uncovers a common thread: a surprising association of ideas. This surprise is derived from the violation of our logical expectations and often accompanied by laughter. The author categorizes wit into three forms: logical, which results from mental agility and wordplay; alogical, which arises from a deliberate violation of common sense; and paradoxical, a form of wit that presents a clever contradiction. The book delves into the psychology of wit, examining the role of intelligence, spontaneity, and the desire to provoke laughter. The author concludes that wit is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon that enriches our understanding of humor and language. 12° (13 x 8 cm.). 108 S. mit gestoch. Frontispiz.
