Blumenthal refers to these volumes as "magnificent examples of the arts of the printed book. They are, surely, the most impressive single monument of the Rudge/Rogers association." In 1928, this amazing collection of Boswell's papers (long thought destroyed) was sold by Boswell's great-granddaughter and her husband Lord Talbot to Lt. Col. Isham.
