A few spots of scuffing and a few nicks at board edges as well as to spine ends and bands. All edges gilt but with…some flaking to top edge. Brown silk moire endpapers; sewn-in brown silk page marker. C.P. Snow's brown ink signature on second front flyleaf. Interior pages are bright and clean. Binding remains quite crisp. Also includes "A special message to subscribers from C.P. Snow" and b/w illustrations by Howard Rogers. THE AFFAIR was first published in 1959. This Franklin edition reflects an unusual publishing quirk as being a posthumous signed edition for Franklin Library arranged for Snow to sign blank sheets before his death on July 1, 1980 although they did not print and bind the book until early 1981. Approximate shipping weight = 2.5 pounds.
