    Couverture rigide. Condition: Bon. In-8 (160 x 100 mm), 279 pp., 8 ff. n. ch. Veau fauve marbré, dos lisse orné, pièce de titre en maroquin rouge, filet doré sur les coupes, restauration de la coiffe supérieure et aux coins, légère trace de mouillure dans la marge inférieure des derniers feuillets (reliure du XVIIIe siècle). Violent pamphlet dirigé contre Henri III et l'hérésie protestante. Avocat et conseiller à la cour des monnaies de Paris, Nicolas Rolland du Plessis (né vers 1550) était un Ğcatholique royaliste, hostile aux politiques aussi bien qu'aux huguenotsğ (Hauser). Dans son virulent discours, il s'élève contre les abus de toute sorte qui se pratiquent aussi bien à la cour que dans les différents ordres de l'État et réclame la guerre aux hérétiques. Il dénonce tous les vices: corruption des moeurs, vénalité des offices, concussion des gens de roi, luxe de la bourgeoise et en particulier des habits, adultère, spectacles. L'Hôtel de Bourgogne est décrit comme Ğunecloaque & maison de Satanğ où l'on se livre à l'ivrognerie et aux jeux de dés. L'ouvrage aurait été imprimé à Paris. Il existe trois éditions, datées 1588, sans que l'on puisse déterminer l'ordre des tirages. Ex-libris manuscrit ĞPaniquinyğ, daté 1630, sur la dernière page avant la table. Il pourrait s'agir de Jean Paniquiny, apothicaire et valet de chambre de Marie de Médicis d'origine italienne, qui épousa en 1612 Madeleine Bardin, fille du chirurgien ordinaire de la reine.
