She was an accomplished and well-known journalist in both America and in the Philippines. She was also prolific writer for Saturday Review, Ladies Home Journal, Reader's Digest, Gourmet and numerous major magazines in the USA & Philippines. She published fourteen books in all. She also interviewed prominent Filipinos such as Ferdinand & Imelda Marcos. She interviewed General Carlos P. Romulo, which eventually brought them together. During World War she was friends with General Douglas MacArthur, see photos of him and many other famous people related to the Philippines. . In 1977, the Baguio College Foundation awarded her with an honorary degree in humanities. The Philippine Women's University honored her with the same recognition two years prior in 1975. For many years since 1986, Beth served as a columnist and associate editor for the Manila Bulletin. . *** THE HOTEL MANILA: . This book is profusely illustrated with many color & b.w. photos, including many Filipino foods. . This book was self-published by the author, in a small, number of copies in hardback with dust jacket. . The title is about the hotel, guest house to famous: Kings, Presidents, premiers, potentates as well as glamorous VIP guests from Hollywood and the international world of sports. The hotel added an entire floor for a 'personal palace' from which General Douglas MacArthur contributed to "building the fledgling nation's defense system. With many photos of McArthur as well as essays about him as he was friends with Day from ages ago. . This is the hotel's fifty-years story & history, "scenes of war and intrigue, of raucous political conventions & confrontations, of private romances & tragedies." . This comes with an unused glossy, color photo postcard with caption: "The Manila Hotel as it stands now." Meaning rebuilt after World War II. .
