The emergency coinage of 1689-1691 for the Irish campaign of James II provides a standard work of reference for the base coinage known as gunmoney as used for the Jacobite campaign during the late seventeenth century. The coins are arranged monthly under each denomination. An historical snapshot of the military campaign is provided at the beginning of each month to allow the reader to understand the circumstances in which the coins were issued and used during that period. Each type of coin is described and illustrated with every month date and principal variety tabulated for easy reference for both the Dublin and Limerick mints. This book also provides collectors and students of gunmoney with an indication of the comparative rarity, diameter, weight, orientation and edge milling of each of the coins together with associated 'patterns' and 'off-metal' strikes of the period.
