The emergency coinage of 1689-1691 for the Irish campaign of James II provides a standard work of reference for the base coinage known as gunmoney as used for the Jacobite campaign during the late seventeenth century. An historical snapshot of the military campaign is provided at the beginning of each month to allow the reader to understand the circumstances in which the coins were issued and used during that period.
