Halpine (1829-1868) was an Irish journalist, author, and soldier during the American Civil War. Halpine also used the pen name, "Miles O'Reilly." This book is a collection of Halpine's poems and includes a short biography on the poet. Edited by Robert B. Roosevelt (1829-1906), U.S. Representative from New York, Minister to the Hague, and uncle of Theodore Roosevelt.
