Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive and detailed study of the thoracic structure of butterflies and moths. It explores the homologies between the two groups and traces the progressive modifications that have taken place in the evolution of the thoracic structure in Lepidoptera. The author has… selected representative species from various families of moths and butterflies to illustrate the diversity of thoracic structures found in the order. He has also provided a detailed description of the different sclerites and their articulations, as well as a discussion of the modifications that have occurred in the evolution of the thoracic structure. This book is an essential reference for entomologists and evolutionary biologists interested in the morphology and evolution of insects. It provides a wealth of information on the structure and function of the thoracic segments in Lepidoptera and will be of interest to anyone interested in the comparative anatomy of insects. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
