Inside are 22 sheets of the same size, eleven of which set forth lithographs of drawings, and eleven of which set forth a short paragraph identifying the subject of the drawings. Not bound. The folder is soiled; the cloth cover is loose. But the sheets are in fine condition. This is not a complete set, containing only 11 of the original 24. The 'characters' are: Viscount St. Cyres; W.R. Morfill; Friedrich Max Muller; Earl Beauchamp; James A. H. Murray; J. Conway-Rees; Hartwell De La Garde Grissell; Professor Margoliouth; James Hearn; Arthur Sidgwick; and Joseph Wells. (James A. Murray was the editor of what is now known as the Oxford English dictionary.).
Hardbound. bound in publishers cloth. unpaginated. Covers measure 12.5" x 18.1" 24 lithographic reproductions. Regular edition copies measure 11.8" x 17.5" I believe. This book measures 13.7" x 20.5". It is bound in publishers cloth. Will Rothenstein in an explanatory note, states 'Sixteen of these Lithographed Portraits were done during the year 1893; the remaining eight were drawn in the month of February of this year, and are dated '96. I would wish to record my thanks due to those friends of mine who have so generously and willingly supplied the Biographical Sketches facing my Drawings. Sitters are: Sir Henry Ackand W.A.L.
