A travers une étude menée au centre de soins dentaires de Nantes de novembre 2009 à février 2010 sur les critères de choix d'une pâte dentifrice par les patients, il apparaît que le chirurgien dentiste se doit de jouer un rôle prépondérant dans le conseil et la prescription de dentifrice auprès des patients afin de renforcer la motivation à l'hygiène de ceux-ci.
