Full leather binding, decoratove gold stamps on spine (worn), title plate on spine (worn), front and back cover have been professionally reattached by a book restorer, 14 + 370 + 56 + 8 pp., engraved frontispiece, decorative initials, illustrated with many heraldic woodcuts in the text and some full page engravings showing full figure portraits of historical figures, some water stains but otherwise in good condition. Third edition of De Rouck's "Nederlandtschen Herauld". The first edition was published in , the second edition in 1671. It is the oldest and only Dutch work on heraldry until the mid nineteenth century. De Rouck developed a hatching system to convey heraldic colors in print. A table of this hatching system is found on page 55 of the second part. l Including: "Tweede deel des Nederlandtschen Herauld: ofte Korte beteeckeninghe der Konst-Woorden, ende Formulen van spreecken in Herauldie, door den selven autheur, Thomas de Rouck" and "Waerschouwinghe aen den leser". On the inside of the front cover an engraved family crest of the Van Zuylen family has been pasted in. Printer's mark on title page, title page in red and black ink, Roman fonts (regular and italic) combined with a Gothic font. Some drawings in pencil to illustrate the descriptions of family crests. In the back one of the owners has started a handwritten register of family namen.
