The internal binding of the text portion is good but the front hinge at board is starting to crack and rear board shows an old tape reinforcing repair and some pulling at the end pages. Pages are toned due to age but are clean, foldouts are present and attached. Only handwriting found in book is a small "Walden 1920" penned on the front end page. No other writing found, no bookplates, no library markings. The title page states first edition, third impression.

One of a series on ocean shipping and transportation, per preface this was the first book to deal with this aspect of the business. Includes details of paperwork, types of cranes, efficient handling of everything from dried apples to pig iron, proper stowage, delivery from wharf, longshoremen, etc. Nice glimpse into shipping industry before the days of containers. Business; steam ships; ocean freight; cargo.
