A scholarly catalogue of the sixteenth-century printed holdings of the Cathedral Library in Lwów (Lviv), one of the most important ecclesiastical book collections of the historical south-eastern Polish-Lithuanian territories. Edward Różycki's opening study traces the history of the Cathedral Library, followed by Jolanta Gwioździk's analysis of the content and typographic character of its sixteenth-century holdings. The catalogue proper, arranged alphabetically, describes 608 entries plus 20 duplicates -- 628 descriptions in total. Each entry follows the Polish adaptation of the international ISBD(A) standard for early printed books, supplemented with bibliographic citations, a summary binding description, a list of provenance markings, and the shelfmark of the Lviv University Library, where the collection is now housed. The authors have sought to reconstruct the state of the collection as it stood in 1939, before its dispersal and damage during the war and postwar period. The work stands as a documentary record of a major Lwów ecclesiastical library and its place in the multi-national intellectual culture of the city.…
