Illustrated with aquatone facsimile plates, reproducing a number of manuscript documents in their original size. Blumenthal refers to these volumes as "magnificent examples of the arts of the printed book. They are, surely, the most impressive single monument of the Rudge/Rogers association." In 1928, this amazing collection of Boswell's papers (long thought destroyed) was sold by Boswell's great-granddaughter and her husband Lord Talbot to Lt. Col. Isham. Condition: Contents are clean and essentially Fine condition, with exception of staining from taped autograph in Volume 1 [see images]. Bindings are generally faded at spine; a few volumes have significant loss of sizing/color or spotting at spines.
