Zudem wirkte er als Schauspieler in zahlreichen deutschen Filmen mit, u.a. in M - Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder" (1931). Blümner setzte sich in Berlin für die faschistisch geprägte italienische Futurismo-Bewegung ein, erhielt dann aber wegen der jüdischen Abstammung seiner Frau Schreib- und Aufführungsverbot.
