Established in 1857, were renowned for their high quality craftsmanship and were also know for their innovative technologies in particular machinery such as excavators and steam navies. They were highly successful producing thousands of steam engines, employing a work force of over 1000 by the late 19th century. They exported a great many machines to Australia. They are also known to have played a significant role in the industrialisation of agriculture and have equipment preserved in many museums worldwide. This work reads almost like an early car manual for portable steam engines. A fascinating and charming piece of engineering history.
