Pictorial Wrappers. Condition: USED_VERYGOOD. First Edition. 34 pages; Contents clean and secure in well preserved pictorial glossy wrappers. Reporting in this special issue on The Kennedy Image include "Washington" by Rowland Evans, Jr. ; "New Delhi" by Sharokh Sabavala ; "London" by David Marquand ; "Tokyo" by Edward Seidensticker ; "Paris" by George W. Herald ; "Latin America" by Pat M. Holt. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Rowland Evans, a provocative newspaper columnist, commentator and author who antagonized liberal politicians and championed conservative causes. He left Yale and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1942 during World War II and was discharged in 1944 because of malaria. In 1963, Mr. Evans and Mr. Novak began writing ''Inside Report,'' an insider's view of politics that was published four times a week until Mr. Evans retired in 1993. Mr. Evans and Robert Novak began their work as columnists in the early 1960's, a time when newspaper columnists wielded outsize influence in national politics. The pair pioneered in transferring that influence to the medium of cable television with the political discussion program ''Evans & Novak'' -- carried on CNN from that cable network's beginning. Rowland Evans and his wife Kay (Katherine Winton Evans), also a respected writer and editor, were mainstays on the Washington social scene, hosting many memorable gatherings in their handsome Georgetown house -- to which flocked influential and remarkable people drawn from journalism, politics and general society over the decades from the 1960s to the 2000s. Both Evans and Novak became more predictably conservative over the years, particularly during the Reagan years. Reportedly, both columnists voted for JFK in 1960 and for Lyndon Johnson in 1964. Evans earned a place on Richard Nixon's infamous "Enemies List." Novak reported that Evans had JFK as a guest for the first dinner party the latter attended as President Elect. Kay and Rowland Evans has a particularly close friendship with Robert F. Kennedy, his wife Ethel and their family.

Hardcover. Condition: NEW. Lines from an Artistic Life explores the drawings of eminent Indian artist KM Adimoolam well known in India and internationally for his meticulous pen and ink drawings on subjects ranging from realistic portraits of mahatma Gandhi to idealized portrayals of Indian kings and warriors and semi abstract depictions of Hindu Gods informed by Cubism. Born in 1938 in Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu KM. Adimoolam's natural aptitude for drawing at an early age made him move to Chennai in 1959. There under the influence of the sculptor Dhanapal he enrolled in the School of Arts and Crafts. After completing his Diploma in Advanced Painting in 1966 Adimoolam started a series of black and white portraits of Mahatma Gandhi. Sketching from photographs of the great man he finished nearly 100 drawings that covered over 60 years of the Mahatma's life. At about this time Adimoolam came into contact with Tamil writers and began an association with them illustrating their works after which he took up oil painting. Colour came into his life causing him to move from the figurative to the abstract. Adimoolam now works with equal ease at drawing and painting combining the two to produce a large body of work. The recipient of many honours and awards his works are held in numerous public and private collections in India and abroad. This book will appeal to all those with an interest in drawing contemporary art and Indian culture. 164 pp.
