Seller: Hugh Pagan Limited, Brockenhurst, HANTS, United Kingdom
The book?s title only distantly hints at the fact that the central figure in its narrative is Frank Pick (1878-1941), successively managing director of the London Underground Group and Chief Executive of the London Passenger Transport Board, and a key figure in the Design and Industries Association, of which he was one of the founders and President in 1932-4. Readers will make their minds up about the reality of any connection between Pick and ?medieval modernism?, but the book makes for interesting reading and it could well be the only book published by OUP in which the author?s acknowledgements are recorded in rhymed couplets. 8vo. xii + (2) + 242pp. Publisher?s cloth, in dustwrapper. Gavin Stamp?s copy, with his booklabel.
