Opnieuw kiest Dillemans voor een indrukwekkende serie die de mens, diens gelaat en diens expressie centraal plaatst. Sommige modellen zijn haast onmiddellijk herkenbaar, anderen vragen meer van de kijker. Het resultaat is een bij momenten verontrustende serie die noopt tot diepe observatie, tot het aftasten van het concept portretschilderkunst en tot een diepe waardering voor de knappe koppen die Dillemans op zijn manier picturaal samenbrengt. In recent years Sam Dillemans painted about 300 portraits together, especially influential authors, but also scientists, composers and singers. In his typically dynamic and flowing style Dillemans completed the 300 portraits almost in one sitting. Most are in black and white in volatile flowing lines placed on canvas, others are lifted by subtle hints of brush lines in color. Recognizable or not, it depends on the viewer off, and how the artist chooses to reveal to his impressive canvases. Again choose Dillemans an impressive series that the man, his facial expression and his central place. Some models are almost instantly recognizable, others demand more from the viewer.
