It would become known for its novel for the times approach to teaching, where the students gained practical, rather than theoretical, experience by actually performing the duties that would be required of them in a real work environment, including a mock bank, a mock railway station, etc. Though very-successful in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the college would ultimately close down in 1931.
