Condition: Good. Als. 15 x 10.5 cm. Sammy Cahn and Alan Jay Lerner were both prolific American lyricists who collaborated with different composers to write classic songs and musicals. Lerner is known for musicals like My Fair Lady with composer Frederick Loewe, while Cahn is famous for his many songs with composer Jule Styne and collaborations with artists like Frank Sinatra. The two were sometimes grouped together on recordings, such as a box set of songs sung by them and Johnny Mercer. .Provenance: Estate of Alan Jay Lerner, (1918-1986):.In 1962, Russel Crouse had a play, the musical Mr. President, premiere on Broadway. He wrote the book for this musical with Howard Lindsay, and it featured music and lyrics by Irving Berlin. Mr. President opened on October 20, 1962, and starred Robert Ryan and Nanette Fabray.Alan Jay Lerner is celebrated for his enduring and engaging contributions to musical theater, including 'My Fair Lady', 'Camelot', and 'Paint Your Wagon', among many others. His work is remembered for its distinctive blend of emotional depth and charm, which led to the creation of some of the most significant works in musical theater for both stage and screen.Over the course of four decades, Lerner rubbed shoulders with some of the world's most iconic figures, many of whom became confidants and pen pals.
