Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit analysiert der Autor die Weltgeschichte, jedenfalls die der sogenannten westlichen Welt, anhand ihrer revolutionären Strukturen. So zeigt er, dass Revolutionen Anfang und Ende eines jeweiligen politischen Systems waren. Der Autor geht hier von dem Modell der Heerschildrevolutionen von Rosenstock-Huessy aus. Grundlage hierfür ist die Annahme, dass die Unzufriedenheit einer breiten Masse eine Revolution auslà sen kann, die sich im Ãbergang der Macht von einer Schicht auf eine andere zeigt. Demzufolge ist der Adressat einer revolutionären Umwälzung die jeweils dominant aus der letzten Revolution hervorgegangenen Schicht. Die revolutionären Schichten kà nnen in ihrer Reihenfolge verdeutlicht werden durch die Heerschildordnung des Heiligen Rà mischen Reiches. Dieses ähnelt einer Ständeordnung mit dem Kaiser an der Spitze und direkt anschlieÃend geistlichen und weltlichen Fürsten. Hieraus folgen Ritter und freie Männer, unfreie Männer schlieÃen diese Liste ab. Nach einer umfassenden Einführung in den Begriff der Revolution wendet sich der Autor einzelnen sozialen Gruppen zu, hier eingeteilt in Heerschilde. Diese stehen meist auch exemplarisch für einzelne Länder. Zunächst beschreibt er die Auflehnungen geistlicher Fürsten (u.a. des Papstes), dann die der weltlichen Fürsten (u.a. der Grafen und Gentry). Auch die Auflehnung des Bürgertums und seine politische Emanzipation als Folge dieser Umwälzungen, z.B. in Frankreich oder den USA, ist ein zentrales Thema.
