Add to basketHalf-Leather. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Half-leather binding with marbled boards. The front and rear panels have surface wear to the boards and there is rubbing and a little fraying to the corners and to the bottom edge of the front panel. The spine has a title panel and a volume no. panel with gilt decorations and '2nd Series' stamped in gilt at the bottom. The tops of the page edges are a little browned. Scattered spotting to the endpapers and the adjacent pages with a label of a previous owner stuck to the front pastedown. Browning and spotting in a number of places through the book - particularly the pages next to the plates - but the pages are generally largely unmarked. Includes 82 coloured plates (entries 2955 to 3038) which are largely free from browning and spotting and several of these fold out. There is no plate relating to the first entry 2955 so presumably this has become detached and been lost. From the collection of Marjorie Powell, a botanist and yachtswoman who lived in Great Shelford, Cambridge. Several other volumes also in stock.

Add to basketHalf-Leather. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Half-leather binding with marbled boards. Not the original binding - I would guess this book was rebound in the 20th century but can't be more precise. The boards have only light edge wear. The spine has a title panel with gilt decorations and the volume number is blind stamped on it - incorrectly as it is given as 168 but should be just 68. The page edges are browned. Light browning and spotting in a number of places through the book - particularly the pages next to the plates - but the pages are generally largely unmarked. Includes 84 coloured plates (entries 3880 to 3963) which are largely free from browning and spotting and several of these fold out. From the collection of Marjorie Powell, a botanist and yachtswoman who lived in Great Shelford, Cambridge. Several other volumes also in stock.
