These are the oldest Bonds which were recorded into separate books and cover the period 1809 through 1858. There are at least two more Guardian Bond books at the Barren Court House in Glasgow, KY which I wish to transcribe as soon as possible. Records prior to 1809 were normally recorded in the County Order Books only. There is a wealth of information to be found in Guardianship Bonds: 1. Names of children who were born before the 1850 census (the first to list spouse and children's names) and possibly married, deceased or moved before that census. 2. Names of parents who might have just appeared as initials on the census records. 3. The Surety/Secutities reveal family connections, friendships and business dealings of our early pioneers. It will help to explain why a certain child would appear with a family other than their own at census time. 4. It also helps to more closely pinpoint dates of death of the parent.".
