Il mondo pare, spesso, essere visto attraverso una sorta di filtro che opacizza l'immagine, la rende insieme meno nitida e più penetrante, dentro un'aria di crepuscolo e di caligine, pervasa di un sentimento dolente e struggente del tempo: quel filtro sono gli occhiali della memoria, con cui guardiamo qualcosa che fa affiorare in noi un certo ricordo lontano, magari al limite tra ciò che è conscio e ciò che resta nell'inconscio o alla metà del transito. Si respira, in molte di queste fotografie, la consapevolezza che Georges Braque aveva nel tempo maturato: "La sola cosa che ci rimane è quella che ci tolgono, ed è la cosa migliore che possediamo".
