Title page in red and black. 269,[1] pp. Very good; in a good unclipped typographic and decorated dust jacket with some chips and closed tears, mostly confined to the top edge. Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. An excellent example of Sassoon and Dale's controversial and increasingly sought-after classic of alternative history, biblical mystery and speculative science. Using passages from the Zohar as their starting point, the authors explore the extraordinary theory that an advanced machine existed in biblical times, capable of converting algae into a sustainable food source. Going further still, they suggest that the Ark of the Covenant may have housed a nuclear reactor used to power the device, and that the machine's weekly maintenance cycle may even have provided the origin of the Sabbath. Ambitious, provocative and highly original, The Manna-Machine remains a landmark work within the fields of esoterica, alternative archaeology and revisionist history. A particularly attractive copy. The text pages are clean, bright and fresh throughout, free from inscriptions, tanning and foxing. Binding firm and square, with clean boards and only the slightest hint of a lean. A couple of pages around Pp22 has a slight crease at top (see photos). The dust jacket is unclipped and unusually well preserved, remaining bright and complete with only very light shelf wear and minor rubbing. No significant chips or loss, unlike many surviving copies. Now housed in a removable protective clear cover. A scarce first edition, especially in such well-preserved condition, and an increasingly desirable title for collectors of esoterica, alternative history, ancient mysteries and fringe science. Please see photographs, all of which are of the actual book offered for sale; we do not use stock images. Additional photographs available on request. All books are carefully packed and dispatched promptly. Photos are copyright Tom Heywood Books. Martin Riches (illustrator).…
